Identity is received not achieved | Galatians 5:1-13 | Pastor Andy Rock

In Galatians, we learn that our identity in Jesus is received, not earned. The early church faced tensions as Jewish believers tried to impose rules on new non-Jewish converts, reflecting how we often turn to rules and achievements to find worth. However, striving for perfection can lead us away from the grace and freedom that Jesus offers. Paul reminds us that true freedom lies in embracing our identity in Christ—loved, forgiven, and chosen—without the burden of proving ourselves. Instead of being weighed down by rules or trying to control outcomes, we’re invited to trust Jesus, express faith through love, and serve others humbly. Let’s embrace this freedom, live with a sense of divine purpose, and trust that our worth is secure in Christ’s love.
